Every Friday I’ll be sharing a photo from someplace in my travels.
This week’s photo is from Mount Fuji,Japan.
At 12,389 ft high, this exceptionally symmetrical stratovolcano is world renowned as a symbol of Japan. It is one of Japan’s “Three Holy Mountains” and many Japanese make the pilgrimage to the top at least once in their lifetime. I had always dreamed of visiting Fuji-san, or to at least see it from a distance; but often Fuji-san is considered “shy” and is hidden away in the clouds. While sometimes visible from Tokyo, you have to consider yourself lucky if you get a clear glimpse at this mountain.
And lucky we were! We had unobstructed views of Fuji-san during our whole visit to this sacred mountain. I couldn’t have been more grateful.
